I've actually talked with Xkeeper on the phone when I was in Vegas several years back. We were suppose to meet up, but it never happened. I was there for work (GS conference).

So I've been talking about Seattle's wage increase with a few people both off and online. Do you think this is a good thing, raising the minimum wage to $15 dollars or could this lead to problems down the road?

EDIT: because I said $11 and not $15.

I want to say that it will be good and bad but in the long run, I don't think it will be good at all.

1. Cost will go up from food, clothes, living and so on. If you pay people more, the price of everyday goods will go up as well.
2. Companies might not be able to afford paying all if their employees $15 an hour. This will lead to layoffs.
3. Companies will not be able to hire more employees because they cannot afford to have them on staff (this links to #2).
4. If a company is able to keep all of their employees, they might be forced to cut hours. Some who work 40 hours a week at full time might find themselves in a part time position. Then insurance comes into play since some insurance companies won't cover you unless you work 35+ hours a week.

My husband is sick (which gave me the idea for this thread). He doesn't get sick often but when he does, its bad but it doesn't stick around for too long.
