So this is my Kirbys adventure hack, main concept is that you cant fly, meaning you have to use different abilities to get around instead of just holding up to skip most of level, but Im not planning to force player to only use one ability during entire game, maybe in few selections or entire level, but its too early to say. So far I have one world + 4levels done, I will post newer demo once Im done with world 2 ;).

Playthrough of outdated demo.
More screenshots&other stuff on my thread over romhacking.net's forums

(Outdated) demo, contains world1 with four levels:
Download: (Click to download)
Patch it into "Kirby's Adventure (U) (PRG 0).nes".

Any comments, feedback, suggestions etc are welcome, but remember that this is far from finished :).

Current progress since last update; more tweaking on world1, now its at point where Im more or less done with it, so unless someone has any suggestions or anything I should change and whatnot, its finished(note that current demo it heavily outdated). Outside of world1, Im about halfway done with world2, it needs some tweaking and fixing some stuff but its going smoothly so far.

Removing Kirby's ability to float? That's.. interesting.

Might give this a try some point.

Demo is bit outdated, but it should give idea what this hack will be, to some degree at least :).

Posted by Phyresis

However, the concept seems pretty neat, if only because of how much it would probably throw me off to not be able to float. That being a huge part of Kirby, I do it ALL THE TIME (and get frustrated a lot nowadays by it being limited in Kirby 64)

Actually I did some testing and if kirby could jump one block higher, its possible to finish entire game w/o floating at all, or when using fireball/ball/twister/hi-jump as much as possible. To me when I was testing it didnt feel any different from any other platformers, but compared to other kirby games its bit harder as you cant just hit up to avoid death, but this also opens possibles for more interesting level designs as player cant skip entire level or obsolesces or making levels closed/tunnel-like so that player cant skip it.

Bizarre Adventure? This should be a hack of Super Star so that way you can call a helper using your ability and it can be your Stand. Har har.
Exactly what I was thinking.

Heh, only if SS had level-editor :D. But I only intended it to be reference than anything else, and it kinda fits with original games name too.

This hack looks very interesting. I haven't really played any of the original Kirby games (mostly due to only having GB lateron , and really never getting the chance to play Super Star for more than a few minutes) I like the concept of having to use abilities as a puzzle. When I get a moment I will check this out. Very nice :)

Right now its not exactly puzzle-orient, but once I get into making world3 and to be able to crank-up difficulty, it'll be :P.

Just beat Phoenix Wright: ace attorney - Dual Destinies, first three cases were rather bad, but last two were nice outside of Wright's overreactions. I still need to buy that DLC case someday, but I'm thinking of playing R&C: into the nexus next ^_^.

With nes in '94 or '95, Im fairly sure it was either smb1 or smb2, and I was basically stuck with it and our old PC until much later when I got ps1 for free from my uncle, I think it was around when platinum versions of games started to come out(in European) or when ps2 was about to come out(again, in European). Some years later I got ps2 and around same time(or before, I dont remember) gba:sp, although at the time I discovered emulation and mostly emulated nes/snes/genesis/n64 etc stuff all the time, which later led me to upgrade my PC to play games I missed.

After that when I had more money I bought other consoles, gamecube, wii, DS, psp as they were damn cheap as used(psp was around 30€, and others were under 60€ at "worst"), and somewhat recently bought 3DS and PS3.

Wow, it's amazing to see Kirby being hacked :) (didn't someone say that it was difficult to crack the compression for Kirby's Adventure or was that another Kirby game?)

Apparently all(?) HAL games uses same compression or something, and it was only while ago when KALE(KA editor) came out IIRC.

Kirby hack! ^_^

I think Kirby needs to go on an adventure to find an apostrophe for his game's title ^_~

I started to call it "bizarre" because of all.. bizarre problems I encountered while hacking this, for random example this was most weirdest one yet:

Weekly update #3: finished rest of level3 and worldmap(outside of showing wrong name and world number), I had some really annoying glitches/problems which lowered my motivation for this hack, but hopefully I get around finishing rest of world2 before next week..

Alright, time for another demo.
First two worlds and both world-maps are fully edited, first world has some changes so those few who played previous demo, play from beginning. Also due changes to world-map, dont use old saves or saves from original game as you'll probably just end up out-of-bounds and or dying instantly 'till game over.

Download: (Click to download)
Mirror: (see above)
Patch it into "Kirby's Adventure (U) (PRG 1).nes"

And again, comments, feedback, suggestions etc are welcome :).

EDIT: Trailer of demo #2

I finally found snes at good price(50€) and it actually came with all essential stuff(and in good condition too!) and SMW so I went ahead and bought it and picked up few other games as well ^_^.
