Gywall: When was the last time? Been awhile since I ran into driver troubles honestly, other than the newest graphics card sometimes don't have full 3D support. But faulty/missing drivers is the responsibility of whoever made the hardware. I recall it used to be common to have problems with getting the sound working, but nowadays that 99% computer users uses a common chipsets rather than a dedicated sound card it's not as much of a problem.
If you work plenty with computers, it's a pretty good idea to familiarize yourself with Linux due to it's dominance amongst the server "market". ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org, YouTube

Posted by Marzen64Linux is not hard at all, especially if you install a userfriendly Linux like Ubuntu, most desktop distros around are pretty much made in a such way that you don't need to use the terminal at all. (Terminal is faster though if you know how). ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org, YouTube

Actually Gamecube/Wii emulation is pretty good nowadays, to the point that people prefer playing Skyward Sword on a PC with a Wiimote (it's gorgous on PC as the aesthics of the game plays really well with anti-aliasing filters and high resolution!). I don't have a bluetooth interface for my PC or else I would had tried myself already. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org, YouTube

Honestly you only need to know trigonometry for more advanced drawing tricks later on. You can get very far in programming with some basic knowledge in arithmetic (subtraction, multiplication, division... the basics that everyone should know!). The math involved isn't very tricky for the most part unless the task makes it necessary (like making a 3D game). ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org, YouTube

I taken notice to the state of the sky more often and I even look after a daymoon now and then it's funny how much the moon is considered to be a night thing when it's up as much during the day too, I guess people just notice it less.
It's cool how a couple of games have special effects during full moon such as Team Fortress and Nethack. Means I can spot a full moon while going home and know it's going to affect the game that evening. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org, YouTube

Posted by KiyoshiI was mostly thinking in terms of when anistropic filtering and MSAA is enabled. I'm quite sure Voodoo didn't have any of those modern filterings. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org, YouTube

Cave of ordeals was probably the most memorable challange in Twilight Princess. Sadly it feels like that boses in games nowadays aren't hard enough or is just put in a awkward and unnecessary way (Hello Deux Ex: Human revolution). ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org, YouTube

Posted by LilianaA way for newbies to play the game is to create a ghetto on purpose, that is building and zoning a city with just roads, zones, water and power and nothing else. Money is no problem, and then you fix the problems afterwards. Plus there is a certain charm with a polluted and crime-ridden city with zero education. :p Although poor areas like that tend to have a low average age, so you schools might wind up being overloaded by the time when you build them. I usually find that the schools that was full at the beginning of the game barely uses 10% of their capacity much later in the game. Actually the only service you should probably worry about providing in the beginning is education, and start with elementary schools. And only fund "enough" to service the capacity used or else you're burning money. If you keep education good enough you will get clean hightech industry. The geeks does not like being next to stinky chemical factories though. I find it easiest to just put a new industrial area for hightech industries elsewhere, they get along well with residential areas surprisingly well. High landvalue scares dirty industry away and manufacturing to a certain extent. The game isn't balanced with industry fully though. Since the high density industries aren't as dense as commerical or residental buildings, you find yourself covering wast swaths of land with industry in lategame. At that point it's clean industry for the most part but it gets ridiculous turning half the city into silicon valley. Mods that increases industry capacity (at least for high-tech) is well-recomended. The best part with simcity 4 is it's highly active modding community. Look up NAM at least. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org, YouTube

Posted by NicoleSeems to be a good way to encourage people to install a ARM flavor of Linux instead.. :p Posted by KawaAdvertising back then made a big deal out of Apple doing the whole "desktop metaphor" thing. This was toned over a bit over the years, probably for consistency. I also see that Lisa does not have square pixels, which makes screenshots of it on modern computers either look warped or pixelated. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org, YouTube

A Link to the past.
Been watching speedruns of it, figured I should finally finish it (I got to about 70% through the game last time). Seems like a fun game to speedrun too, which I might do after I 100%'d it. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org, YouTube

Cause I didn't like looking like a bandwagon jumper. I been tempted to make this kind of thread ever since I first saw them popping up, but I never got around to. Figured I could get away making this thread as soon the other AMA threads died down. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org, YouTube
