posting sprees aren't a thing in 2017.

also, I don't want to see an AB3 if it's going to cave in to modernity.

I don't know about Acmlm, but when you look at Jul's forum names, and compare to what they were in 2007 or 2008, you can see it's lost some... personality? the names feel more 'standard' and less 'we do our own thing'.

like I said earlier, Kafuka is going real well, and 2.5.3 doesn't have huge problems with it's code

also, the inactivity of Acmlm and Emuz would result in there being p much no way that AB3 could get made fast, really

also what would even be changed in AB3? only bugfixes? doesn't sound like there's much to add.. only stuff to clean up.

Ahem.
Post edit bug?
The fact that spoilers are broken on iOS?
Horrible code quality?

The spoiler issue is because of a change in iOS' handling of css.

It's rather a shame they did that, because they've obviously opted to drop support for standard, non-depreciated, css features.

This one isn't a board bug, but an issue with iOS. Apple are so greedy, they think they can re-write the standards.

Thankfully I managed to make a fix for the spoiler bug on iOS. http://board.kafuka.org/thread.php?pid=108703#108703
Now if only Emuz could add that fix to Kafuka.

Also the list posts page is horribly broken. Just see: http://board.kafuka.org/postsbyuser.php?id=354

I do know however, Kafuka isn't actually running the latest revision of the code.

Yeah. That is why that list posts bug still exists.

well I meant it wasn't "huge" shhhh :P

I have no idea what happened to this board's coding. Nobody's done anything with it since 2015.

Moving to GitHub might take it somewhere considering it has much more users than Bitbucket.

3.0 should be a complete community rewrite with enough features to service more 'professional' and non-RH sites while having the classic AB feel.

I'm pretty sure a smal cleanup of the code'd just be okay. Like in what I am currently doing.

I'd rather a complete rewrite.
AcmlmBoard has never been known for being clean.

Besides, '3.0' implies a rewrite.

3.0 would indeed be a total re-write from the ground up.

There's plenty of lessons in the code to be made when writing it again. Notably the username colour handling code.

That one was a mess. It actually took a while to diagnose why rendering times could take so long, or why the board used so many queries.

But testing the fix was easy, since one page in particular loads way more username lines than any other one on the whole board.

I did, lol.
Would be nice to see an AB3, but essentially Kafuka is the successor to board2, it arised from KP and Emuz splitting from blackhole89.

It's also reflected in the version numbers. 2.1 vs 2.5. The huge jump is because whole sections of code are re-written and some major functionality changes.

ab3 could use some stuff like ABXD uses, which would be interesting

could just be ABXD with Acmlmboard stuff with it, RPG system instead of profile comments I guess :P
