I didn't really use Mastodon for very long. I made all of a few posts on the application, used it for about a week and then largely wrote it off as a Twitter clone that was largely in its infancy instead and never really looked back.

Looks like they need to do some more Quality Control or something.

But they probably just accidentally sat on the remote control button for the "delete all rows" in the database or something. Good thing they got backups!
(That's not what happened but it is funny to imagine someone somewhere having a remote for some weird reason with a button that doesn't belong on an easily pressed remote control.)

Can we find something other than Matrix that isn't already bought out by cryptobros as a means of alternative?

I'm certain someone will come up with something. In my experience most cryptobros are just early adopters, not innovators.

Well, Discord has already infamously gone the way of crypto until they got backlash so bad on their Nitro subscriptions that it ran them years into the dirt of money loss.

Last view: 1443 days 		NFTs are just a huge waste of time and mostly scam artists who make it, and all it does is give the money to someone who doesn't even know what they're doing - or know too much how to take advantage of people/artists for "false promises".

If you really want to support artists, give money to actual artists directly. Way better ways to support folks than an insecure (there's been lots of theft and people losing their art/coins) garbage scam system.

In the States, I'd bet it to be lobbying. More reason to keep people outside means more ways to make sure that 'the outdoors, home and garden' economies stay better lit. I doubt the whole WW2 farming reason stands up anymore.

Last view: 360 days 		I'd say interest for sites like this isn't completely dead, considering a few things:

-People still come by despite knowing they're not going to find much of anything new. It may take time, be it months or even years, but people often eventually return, just like I did today.
-Everyone is still starved for entertainment and many miss the "old internet" that had all of its soul sucked away by social media. That is to say, autonomous communities like this with their own flavor and quirks.

What this website lacks is retention and, well, activity. If we could all agree to meet on a certain date to throw a party or whatever, we'd have a start.

It's hard to deny that, individually, sites like Kafuka fell out of relevancy. But if people keep coming anyway, even if it's just to lurk for a few moments, then you've got a small chance. You just gotta take it.

I always keep a watchful eye on the Discord server, and while new posts are rare now, I'm definitely glad to see them every now and then

If I the activity indicator light up for the Discord server, I always immediately check it :P

I suppose by talking/posting more instead of lurking and waiting for others to do so, I could make a difference myself
