I also didn't know the blue Luna theme from XP was running alongside my Aero in Windows 7!
I remember when it was the Win98 look within Windows XP. Those ads are still around?

Might be because my TV is 20 years old and couldn't handle that anyway (Skyrim looks like shit SO MUCH on that TV I gotta run it through my capture card and play it on my computer's monitor).
You got the inferior version of Skyrim. :( (Seriously half the reason to get that game is the game mods alone!).

On a more serious matter, the lack of HD didn't matter when wii was new since most people had standard ratio. However HD is much more common now, and the Wii output looks downright ugly even if a lot of Nintendo games still have really nice aesthetics, basically jaggy edges everywhere. :/

I'd take anything I hear about Wii U with a grain of salt since... the rumours centers around the development hardware. Which I wouldn't be surprised if they kept those on bit on the weak side for flexibility.

Nintendo isn't a graphics whore.
I'd partially disagree due to the fact that Nintendo focuses a lot on the aesthetics. Which actually matters more than polygon count in the end. Actually for a lot of Nintendo Wii games it's just enough to run the game in a higher resolution make the graphics more impressive and beautiful. It be interesting if Wii U can force this. Right now you have to use dolphin if you let say want to play Skyward sword without loads of jaggies (Intrestingly N64 almost went too far with eradicating jaggies, which is why most found it's graphics blurry).

It also depends on the game admittedly too. 2D games gains nothing by a increased resolution, while 3D games does due to the reduced artifacts. I don't mind low poly or blurry textures, but jaggy edges bugs me a lot now.

So, if Microsoft included a working progman.exe until SP3 (and apparently changed and did some kind of update to it, if it's not exactly the same as NT4's), does that mean that there was a large enough group of people still using it until SP3 to get Microsoft's attention?

Actually, I suppose it just means Microsoft has a lot of inertia...
Backwards compatibility just always been a big deal for Microsoft over the years and is the biggest advantage it have over the other OS's. Which is a advantage they're losing anyway due to the "web" (the average user just wants to surf and use th Internet).

They broke Win16 compatibility in 64 bit versions of Windows only due to that they couldn't be bothered to port it to those versions. And before you ask, yes it's still possible to run 16 bit programs in 64 bit mode (this seems to be a common misconception about Win16). This is what Wine does on 64 bit Linux. :P

PC gaming have spoiled me admittly, such as forcing MSAA filtering on driver level just to get ride of the annoying jaggies.

Amusingly with old consoles like NES and SNES though, I like to simulate the look of those old consoles with a NTSC esque filter that actually slightly degrades the picture. But it's a sort of Anti-aliasing in a way. ;)

Well those CPU's have no backwards compatibility with x86 so on those it was probably done with hardware emulation. I don't recall hearing about Win16 being able to run in the powerPC version of Win NT 4, so any citations on that?

Win NT is apparently designed to be portable though. The last time they ported it to a non-X86 platform was with the X-box 360 I belive, and no Windows mobile platforms does not count (it's not the same OS base).

I could go find more, but I haven't seen anything else on e621.

Rest of it's furry porn, though. :x
And most of e621 that isn't furry porn is arguing technicalities seen within the furry porn (gender etc).

It's kind of hilarious actually.

This is a recently released N64 prototype for anyone who is curious "Wildwaters Extreme Kayak". There is only one level and three charcthers to choose from, being a early aborted alpha from the looks of it.

I abuse browser tabs like a sort of a short term form of bookmarks, like having a interesting webpage up for oogling later (like a really neat kickstarter project that I'm still undecided on whenever to fund). This means that I usually wind up having a lot of tabs open at times, but usually it's only the maybe at most the ten latest tab that is relevant to my current browsing.

Something I realized just now. I don't dare to draw pornography, recently. Too afraid to fail horribly, I think. Thoughts?
Go wild, I dare you.

I think you can do easily do a whole movie about emulation, rom hacking and the communities involved.

I mean, zophar.net anyone?

If you like that kind of game, consider buying his masterpiece Spacechem. :) It's like programming with atoms.

Plus there is a few easy puzzles in Spacechem that gives you TF2 items. :P
