With the bridge the way it is on Discord, for now that'll be the official stop gap measure. I don't want to really do anything with the clients until the network itself gets sorted out. (No time frame on that as it's out of my direct control currently.)

I haven't tried it yet, but I kinda wanted to just to give it a go. Maybe I will do so soon!

We could spin off a Kafuka instance if we get.. enough interest. I need to know more about how it works first and all that.

One of my all time favorite illustrators has a new web comic she started. Lalin's Curse is the name. It's more of a suspense scifi type if you are interested.

I've updated my layout and avatar with my new OC. (The artist is Isaky). I set it up so it won't break any of my mood layouts or any of the other Louise ones. There is one extra layer of trickery added. The hint is "Our of respect for the artist I cannot nor will not modify the original artwork." Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....

(backstory ahoy. can just nope out if you could care less)

I've wanted for the last few months have an avatar/profile/pic etc that was 100% unique and mine. I've been doing this whole 'recolor something that exists' thing for over 17 years. While wanting to keep some aspects of my avatars (makes a little less original but it's also consistency) I took all my usual avatar trappings and came up with a very rough idea for a char. I wanted it to be imperfect and cute. With that (and inspired by some of Isaky's works) I went with a "Frankstein('s monster) motif.

Seriously you should check out the artist's Twitter. She's currently writing a multilingual (EN/ES) web comic, as well as her profile is varied and fun to peruse!

(PS: It's nice to see someone actually using the mood layout besides myself. I put that in as an easter egg 3 years ago and finally someone is using it. )

(PPS: I wasn't going to mention this but since I mentioned it in my profile her name is Noriko [範子]. It means "pattern child".)

I still enjoy them as one offs but I don't follow XKCD very actively. It's almost impossible to do a backlog of a lot of these long running comics.

Interesting. I wonder how the result plays. RPGmaker and such usually provided mixed results, but doing it on the NES might be cool!

I'm usually skeptical of kickstarter projects anymore, but it is quite interesting. It looks like it met a lot of it's stretch goals too!

Bullet hell games aren't exactly my thing so I never really gravitated towards them. But they do reach the "Kafuka Seal of a Approval™" in difficulty. I just find how it has so much love in the fan community you would think it had seasons of anime and hundreds of manga issues.

Indeed. Just pictures alone, Pixiv has millions of illustrations under the Touho (kanji) tag. Not to mention places like wallbase has a fair amount too. It's neat to see how it's grown from simple PC-98 (and other systems later of course) sprites to fully flesh out characters with distinct personalities.

User made forums? Interesting. IIRC Arisotura used bitmasks for his perm system on his fork of AB2. It's a good way of doing things as it keeps things simple but opens it up more. (I went the overly complex route of course. )

Other than the main sites using AB it's hard to know who would be using it these days. We're in a 'new is good old is bad' mindset. I'm still hoping people will continue to push it forward as time moves on.
