Granted. you have no money left for the games.
I wish for a girly outfit that doesn't look out of place on me and fits my tastes. |

Posted by Danika I should start a business. my sister's into tea, so we could cooperate for taste-testing. Posted by Kai buy from us, don't trust our competitors. Posted by Danika you want it so much, you're repeating yourself. I believe my advertizing stunt has worked wonderfully. Posted by Robbie Rage whoa, that's not a word I use. quite a broad category. I don't have favorites for many types of animals. Posted by Danika where I live, commercials are french and quite.. dull. they feel void despite the actors going out of thier way to look and sound overly enthusiastic. Posted by Kai don't personally have a dog. I've only had to deal with others', and seen the repercussions of thier respective owners' teaching. Posted by Darkhero I dunno, put rodents are all the same to me because I'm not knowledgeable and don't play favorites. oh and my mom has a phobia of those, so eh. can't anyway. Posted by Kai trying myself at getting some things sorted throughout the summer, as well as fixing my habits. my willpower isn't going up, though.. I'd say I get 1/4th of the things I planned to get done actually done. Posted by Darkhero you picked the game genre I play the least, how unfortunate. I'm trash at Smash, and it rhymes. Posted by Kai both, maybe. sometimes I just run into a question I struggle to answer properly, and I let it hang until somebody asks something I wanna answer. admittedly, I answer a bunch of questions with disappointment. favorite animals, characters, movies, and whatnot. I lack a lot of these. Posted by Danika my lap is a bridge from one side of the bed to the other. also a spot to stand on to meow directly in my face, if only for so long. Posted by Rambly I dunno actually! one of my first favs was Ika Musume, both for the design and character. it's pretty damn old though. the OP in Youjo Senki is interesting, I guess. off the top of my head, I can only think of sub-favorites and they're not outstanding out-of-context. I'd be better off naming the animes, but some of the stuff I watch is childish so nah incidentally, haven't watched many animes recently. I'm hoping to catch up over the summer. |

So, I'm finally getting to replace this old laptop I'm using right now. I remembered Robbie's thread in his search of one, and you guys gave pretty solid suggestions.
unfortunately, I don't have a reference to go from. I can't just choose blindly, so I'm looking for help. recommendations are most welcome. I do not have the luxury to go for a desktop, I've grown accostumed to the mobility of laptop to the point it's become a requirement. I might switch to desktop at some point, however it will be when I own a place to live and can afford to setup an installation. I do believe I can find something just fine for a lappy. I mean, the PC I'm using right now has held strong for all these years despite a completely borked ventilation and a 4GB RAM. my needs are rather simple: -a gaming laptop that can support most games. I'm not looking for the most high-end stuff, just something that can run average games smoothly. -my budget is not set in stone, but it amounts to roughly 1500 euros. I can bump it up to 1800 if direly needed, but I'd rather not. as I said, I'm not looking for the best there is out there, but rather the best bargain I can get for a decent price. I'd like to keep it under 1500, but would feel dicey going below the 1000's. -as far as specs go, it's pretty much carte blanche. I'm looking to buy an already built PC, so I'm not too demanding. -I'm hoping for something that can last. I use my PC all the time, and the one I'm posting from has put up with more abuse than should've been tolerated. I'd love it if it's not too bulky.. or ugly. I'm gonna be staring at the thing on a daily basis. -optionally might go for SSD. I hear about how they live longer and run smoother, so it's an opportunity to try it out. however, if newer models are questionnable in perfomance I might be better off with HDD. I put this thread together in a rush, sorry if it's disorganized. we're going on vacation in a week, so my parents are bugging me because they'd like to know what I plan to do by then. so I'm a bit in a bind here. any input is welcome! |

the latter seems interesting, it targets my budget well. I found a Asus TUF FX705DD, specifically with the 3750H processor. thanks to Epele's help, we figured out this corresponds to the model with the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 GPU. this fits my needs nicely.
the site I'm buying from offers 1022€ for it, which's surprisingly cheap. I figure it has to do with the GPU, which I can change later no biggie. this is such a good deal, I'm having a hard time believing it. I'll think about it some more, and probably go for it within the evening. the faster I get it, the faster I can port important stuff to it. thanks for the help! |

hello again.
so, I now have a new laptop that doesn't require heavy duty pc coolers that I can take with me to vacation. that's good. unfortunately, it lacks the data I use everyday on my old PC, and not having it handy during vacation would set me back quite a lot in my routine. in other words, I lack the time to make a proper setup (I'm also prone to forgetting key elements). I've restorted to trying something I am unsure would theoretically work. and that is, to dual-boot my old computer's hard drive on my new laptop. you see, my laptop comes with the boot drive being a SSD, and the storage drive being a HDD. so I made attempts at swapping the latter with the old PC's hard drive, which went fine. however, while I can access the drive and assign it as storage drive, I cannot seem to select it from the 'Create new boot option' menu in the BIOS. the drive does not show up in the selection of bootable drives. I feel I am lacking something, but I don't know what. I am running out of time as it is, so any help figuring stuff out would be greatly appreciated. |

Thanks for all the replies, notably Emuz.
Posted by Emuz The install isn't too old, but the hardware is. My BIOS panel appears to be lacking the "Launch CSM" option, and I cannot find any UEFI option to switch to Legacy. Arg. Posted by Hiryuu That puts my PC in a grey area as my Windows 10 install is an upgrade from a semi-hacked Windows 8.1. A friend of dad's is the one who installed W8 on it and my dad wasn't happy when he heard I upgraded to Windows 10. Not that I regret it. Point is though, I reckon a bunch of the configuration from Win8 ported over. Legacy windows apps, for example, are all enabled by default unlike they would be on a fresh install of W10. I don't know if that kinda stuff would mess up the attempt to port over. |
