I've used OpenOffice since 2004. It suits my needs just fine.

Most people IRL seem to think that MS Office is literally the only office suite in existence, though.

I'm the same way IRL. If I'm talking to one other person I'm fine, but in a group I tend to get drowned out. Work is an exception because I'm in a position of authority.

Hey, I still hold true. I was the only one here to ever make Reinfors++. No one else got it. Gywall almost did. but I made it to Reinfors++ almost Reinfors+++.

Jul had a double Anya Syndrome day back in 2009 (Liliana and Lunaria) and I managed WS++++. People were freaked out since I hadn't even been at Jul for 2 weeks (I kind of hid my old Acmlm's identity at the time).

I have what was billed as 1 TB of hard drive space, although Windows only says 917 GB. Of that space, "only" 113 GB is used, which is still bigger than my last computer's entire hard drive.

Ehh...it's been going downhill since before I left, honestly. Acmlm's forum has had so many split-off, iterations and merges in ten years than I could have ever fathomed it would over drama. Someone should honestly write a psychology book and use this place as a case study. They'd make a mint.

In the old days I'd just throw old broken hard drives and such into the Dumpster. Then I got rather paranoid about something: my undergrad college recalled all student hard drives to send to the FBI after a virus showed up specifically targeting student computers (these were provided by the school, so I guess it was legal), and I had some politically-oriented AIM logs I didn't really want them to see So nowadays I'll get one of those "shredder" programs and use it on any sensitive data.

College stopped happening a year ago. I'm starting over at a community college now and actually working towards the major I ACTUALLY want as opposed to one I turned out to not be interested in at the end.

The major is Game Design, before you ask.

That sounds like me. I went to college for computer programming, which isn't what I want to do for a living. I was interested in it back in 2003-2005 and my parents basically convinced me to study it because it would make lots of money. Bleh, money isn't everything

Now I'm trying to get into a graduate school to become a teacher

I like designing games, but my tastes tend toward ancient 8-bit games that would never sell now Plus I can't draw worth shit.

It's probably just another way for companies to screw over their customers. Counting in base 10 gives them a higher number, so they'd sell more hard drives that someone who uses the more honest binary measure.

Back in the days of floppies, it was common for floppy manufacturers to use a weird hybrid 1024000-byte megabyte, which was neither a decimal 1000000 bytes nor a binary 1048576 bytes. That always bugged the hell out of me.
