E-Switches only appear in dungeons. They activate blocks with their specified color.

Awesome! Also, the dry piranha plant looks interesting! :D
I love the castle graphics. Kinda reminds me from the one of luigi vs mario. (or is the same one?)

Same graphics lol. Most of the graphics so far have been ported from my previous hacks.

I got a question. As Ice mario. You can freeze the water. Does the water that has been freeze, will it thaw? I imagine an scenario in which someone could get stuck by freezing all the water, which is required to go into it to advance further.

It's possible for someone to freeze the water to the point of, preventing themselves from going further. However, they can always back track and exit the level and retry again.

I tried that in Luigi vs Mario. I felt that the idea didn't work very well so it's not possible in this hack.

And the start of the challenge levels begins 8)

Honestly, Mario freezing water to create ice bridges is sufficient. I've made several areas impossible to reach from jumping out of water alone and requires ice to stand on to reach the area.

Edit: Well it's getting close to that time. I'm going to need some dedicated beta testers to start playing through the hack and note bugs, make suggestions, judge difficulty etc. If you're interested, send me a PM. I'm only going be able to pick a few, but I need people who will play regular updates.

I hope you're able to put in the SMW spinning blocks like you did in one of your old videos, that was pretty cool.

I could, but they really don't serve much purpose beyond being one-way tiles (unless I add the spin jump, which I don't plan on doing)

Fire and Ice Bros.

Mario in his frozen state

When hit by an iceball, Mario will be pushed back and frozen. He has to press A several times to come out of it. During his frozen state he CAN get hurt! If he's get with another ice ball by frozen, his "unfreeze" counter is reset and he has to press jump even more.

What if the player gets stuck in front of an Ice Brother who just keeps shooting Ice Balls faster than Mario can recover from them?

It'll never happen. Mario gets pushed back with each ice ball and I won't design a situation where you can be pushed into a wall with an Ice Bros. nearby.

Yay! Glad the ice bros are in :) I love your solution for frozen.

I could have fun with Fire and Ice bros. :)

Do the Ice Bros freeze water?

No they don't, but I'm going to try to avoid situations where water is near Ice Bros so it doesn't seem odd that their ice balls don't freeze water, but yours do.

Well I wonder what the DLC will be? Honestly, I cant think of anything good at all.
And someone just spoiled me what happens when you get 1 Million coins. I thought I was going to be something better, but IMO, its just not worth it for what you get when you reach that goal.

We're talking about Nintendo here. Their idea of rewards are: playing the game all over again from the start as Luigi or getting 5 stars on the title screen. Will this be the first time Nintendo has ever had DLC on their own games?

At any rate, I'll get the game, I'll plow through it, steal ideas, get 1,000,000 coins and then return it. I've actually read that the levels were designed by an entirely new team in order to make the game use new ideas. I've heard both arguments at this point: the game is a rehash of past Mario level ideas vs the game has some of the best level ideas ever. So it boils down to just playing it myself, as usual 8)

I notice a constantly shifting status bar. Is the 2nd screenshot an older or newer one?

There's two status bars that you can toggle through by pressing Select. The 1st and 3rd status bars show the normal status. The status bar in the 2nd screenshot is showing noncratical stats. All 3 screens come from the same build.

Not sure which one of these palette choices fits better:

Alright guys, I have most of the old Reuben concept implemented in MA3 now. This is 1-1 reimplemented through Reuben. A lot more detail is possible.

Brand new map system, brand new pointer system, brand new level system, brand new level pointer system, brand new palette system, brand new tile map (TSA) system, bra.... fuggit, I kick ass >_<

Oh and once MA3 is finished Reuben will be available for anyone to use for their own hack. Unfortunately, it only works on MA3, so you're forced to inherit all the cool features that come with my hack.

Am I the only one profecient in both? That's actually kind of surprising.

I know 6502 ASM in the context of NES hacking inside and out.

I also know C#, web development (JavaScript, HTML, CSS, etc), I written a few things in C/C++ (though I wouldn't consider myself profecient now that I've been out of practice for years). I used to know Perl well enough (lol those crazy college years), I can fudge enough Java given a reference book, PHP as well.

I've actually have written a good chunk of Reuben as .dll's for reuse in other projects. Not sure how well that works at the moment since I've never had to reuse any of the .dll's lol.

One of my most favorite features in Reuben is the ability to export levels to PNG, allow for very quick guides to be created:

The NEW 1-2

The NEW 1-3

The NEW 1-Dungeon

3 Levels in one day. In the past it took me a day and a half to make one level. I think I may get this hack done even faster than before!

A-line skirts and dresses, cargo shorts, t-shirts and gym pants. I'm pretty comfortable in most clothes as it is. If I'm out and about, I prefer not to wear stuff too baggy.

Last year, I attempted (and successfully) to play DDR for a full 40 hour marathon in order to set the world record for longest rhythm game play session. Unfortunately, my evidence had several issues that caused Guinness to reject my claim.

I am attempting the record again this year, except this time I am doing it on doubles mode. I will be doing the attempt on 11/30 @ 5am until 12/1 @9pm in Knoxville, TN at Zuma Fun Center.

The general rules are: I must started on the lowest difficulty setting (Basic). After 5 hours, I must move up to the next difficulty (Basic -> Difficult -> Expert). I am allowed a five minute break for every full hour I complete. I can bank each 5 minute break to take a longer break later on. I can use the break time in part or in whole. I cannot fail a song and I must make a all choices in the game within 20 seconds (song, options, etc).

I will have an online stream of the event available on twitch.tv
