IMO the first thing we need is mastering a technology that would enable us to travel through space fastly enough for it to be practical. For now it takes a few months to get on the Moon, and even more to get on Mars... let alone going anywhere outside of the Milky Way.

It's hot and sunny lately. Summerish, basically.

Though, there's a recent trend where we get thunderstorms every evening/night.

How does it feel to have a dark layout after so many bright layouts? Fusioning into the Acmlmboard?

Okay so it seems the summer is gone or something. We're right into the depressing cloudy non-hot shit that plagued the two previous Summers.

It's still sunny and somewhat enjoyable, although it's getting a bit cold.

I get the feeling September will be shitty.

I decided to give Obscure Kingdom a try, since the videos of that hack kinda fascinated me. I kinda regret that the music hacks aren't in.

The first level is a bit hard for a first level. I got game over'd, and then Mario got put outside a path on the map. From there, I was unable to move. I entered the 'level' and it was all corrupted garbage.

What I like in this hack is the graphics. They're fairly well detailed for a NES game.

Oh well, gotta try getting through other levels :P

Gotta reset, I guess. There's no way out of the garbageland. There's a Paragoomba but for some reason you go through it without getting hit.

Anyway, the koopa jumps in level 1 are kinda annoying. There's also that pipe somewhere in level 2, that takes you back. Is it supposed to do that? It's kinda bad design.

Some annoying behaviors, but they may come from the original game, dunno:
* when you die and return to the worldmap, it sends Mario back to the last level. That's just annoying. When you lose, you don't want to replay the previous level!
* when coming out of a block, mushrooms randomly go left or right (in all the Mario games I played, they always go right unless something is blocking them)

In level 3, I tried the first pipe I saw, and... black screen.

I see, that explains it :)

Anyway, gotta say I like the level design and the graphics. A full hack of this would be interesting, but yeah that takes time and motivation. I know how this feels.

Also, too bad there's no way out of the garbageland. I was able to get tons of 1-Ups in there. :P

The original is still available, there are a few versions available there: http://acmlm.cjb.net:2/.

1.92 is the best of the 1.x series, but the code is still shit. If you really want to use it for a serious board, you'll need to take some time and fix all the exploits first.

This one makes you an admin.

Needless to say, all of the AB1.x boards today have it fixed. It's one of the most popular and easy ones, but there are many more.

If you intend to use AB1.x, go read some stuff about SQL injections (and exploits in general) first.

If you have PHP knowledge, you can do whatever you want with Acmlmboard, no matter the version.

Doing that change you mentioned, would be matter of finding the code that generates post sidebars (somewhere in lib/threadpost.php), and modifying it properly. And you might want to get larger images, that text is small on nowadays' resolutions.

Happy birthday :3 (oh I'm late, sorry :P )

Yay, an original birthday party! :) Unrelatedly, that's a nice new layout you've got here.

I was in #kawa, and saw Kawa tell his bot Cynthia to join #kafuka. I went there out of curiosity, and found the board this way.

The first Acmlmboards I've been joining were Jul and Board2. I was searching for NSMB stuff, found videos of edited levels, and then Treeki's website which linked to both boards.

I wish I had been there in the Acmlm's Board times.

That's a neat project. I like the finish of it, defintiely.

One thing I wonder is how much that thing weighs, though, considering it's built of wood.

I also wonder how well it'd work with consoles that are rather big and have air vents/fans on their sides. Maybe they could overheat if they're too close to the borders?

Perhaps ask blackhole89?

But I think a better solution would be to code your own.
