Personally, I kinda like the dynamic. Devoted paladin who's new in town versus the hot headed warrior who knows more than he tells. It makes the story more compelling beyond "slashy slashy fight monsters yay".
I don't think Moxley hates Zarik, it just looks like more of a buddy cop "clash of styles" thing before they team up and save the day in the third act. |

As the explosion from Bel's fireball ripples outward, Moxley can be seen wordlessly engaging with the rest of the crowd of gremlins. He slices into one gremlin with his sword hand, while bashing and other in the skull with his shield a second later. A third gremlin charges Moxley, but is quickly met with a stiff kick to the face from a silver armored boot.
After a moment of skirmishing, Moxley backs up a bit and raises his shield, expecting that another explosive attack from his companions is coming soon... |
