At least they are POSIX compliant birds..

You know one of the few things in the POSIX/UNIX world I've never been able to master is any regexp more complex than simple wildcards. It's on my list of things to try again if I ever find 'spare' free time.

Regex is something I use time to time, but never fully understood. I need to take my time to learn it properly.

I like that some Linux discs doubles as both boot and install disc.

I do know if you master it, it saves a lot of time. (which is why I wonder why I never mastered it than.)

When I first installed Linux, you had to download floppy disk images over dialup (at least I did). Slackware sets A, AA, and D I got first. That was enough to get online with console only, and to build programs. I think I got the N package next so I could use lynx and I had to build ircii-epic3 myself to do IRC while I waited for the large X and XA packages to download. (I don't think it was X is X11, XA (which I think I am wrong on it's label) which was the basic apps and windows managers. (I installed it on a 720MB HD and had plenty of room) I'm glad they went with LiveCD + Install as it takes away a lot of the barrior that exists with the old method. (though it was kind of neat being console only for a few days)

I gravitate towards Debian-style now myself. Only because I don't have the time like I used to. I used to love building distros from scratch for myself. This is time consuming. Slackware was more of a "here ya go, no real package manager. Find everything yourself". The one I used later on as my main OS (Gentoo in 2005) used a. "Okay here are the tools to setup your distro. You have to do that yourself. Once you are done than our package manager will compile everything for you automatically with dep check and system level optimizations."

I tried to install pure Debian on occasion and well I never did get it fully installed. (tried in 98', '02, and in a VM in '08). No idea why. I've had success with more complex installs like Gentoo. So until Ubuntu, mint, and the more "install and go" type I never did use apt, dpkg and such. I've become quite fond of it now. In fact if I ever get time I'm installing Linux Mint Debian Xfce edition on my desktop. (loved working with it in VMs)

PS: Always disliked redhat variants. I guess it comes from the time I started using Linux. it was labeled as a 'sell out' and none of my mentors used it.

Note: I've made updates to the two sql dumps.

in the home dir of the development account. I made a new development SQL dump: dev-120213.sql.bz2 it's based on the daily backup from last night. This is the one you should use for development.

I've also made a initial install (main.sql) and pushed it into the git. This is untested, and mostly just to have a more updated version of the data structure. In theory the only thing that should be broken is the perms since I did not modify them from the live board.

Also another change is I moved the ip2c able out to it's own file (sql/static/ip2c.sql) in the git. Neither main.sql or dev-* will contain it anymore. If you need it just import it after mail.sql/dev*.sql.

The purpose of the poll options are meant to be short. I've never seen anyone really use it longer than that. Anything in depth should be explained in the post body really.

I'll make a note about it and we'll look into it when we look at polling.

The one thing I don't get is, I've never seen you make a poll so why did this come up for you?

I said Mana points. I always favor magic/elemental chars over melee/tank. However if I can get a magic user with a sword, that's what I really prefer.

I prefer Emulation. I like being able to play almost anything on one machine. I have had many consoles over the years and they do pile up. Nothing quite beats playing mario 3, Super Mario land 2, Demon Attack, and Quake all at the same time. (Well when I was 15 I could do that. I wish I could find the screenshots from this period. I did to show of X11 to someone)

Right now you still can't get a 100% experience in emulation on most platforms, but in most cases as long as timing is accurate you won't care.

(But I do occasionally pull out the old SNES. [and I was looking at Super Famicom. ])
