The fucking waiting game. I just bought a bunch of stuff and now I'm anticipating getting them all in the mail. I hate anticipation.

Really though, I've been playing a ton of Minecraft lately. Half of this stuff I bought is to be able to capture my gameplay for publishing on youtube and other destinations. I mostly get on Minecraft to play with my brother who lives in Arizona.

I remember a while back when my house had mice... I didn't know where they were coming from, but I knew they were coming from the bathroom. I had two traps set up in there. One day, I heard the snap, so I went running over there to see if I caught it. I did, by the tail. It dragged the trap over to the OTHER trap and set that one off too! Unlucky piece of shit.

Also, I'm eyeballing a 2560x1440 27" monitor. I already have a 1080p monitor and a 1280x1024 monitor. The latter I'm trying to replace with the 2560x1440. Ideally I'd want two of them. Alternatively, I know those phones have been coming out with 1080p screens in them (like I have in my phone) and are a tiny 5 inches. I really want to figure out how to just get one of those screens and drive it with some controller board. I'd love a screen with amazingly high pixel density for a display.

I recently broke down and got myself a Black Magic Intensity Pro capture card that records from component and HDMI. I've got my xbox hooked up to it, and it works wonderfully. Here's how I have it set up: Xbox 360 > HDMI Splitter > BMI Pro/TV.

I took a test recording and then transcoded it and uploaded it to youtube.

It's a powered splitter. No signal degradation is introduced. I was able to play a rhythm based game (as linked above) with no lag. However, if I were to play on my shitty preview screen on my computer, I'd be boned. Hence the splitter.

Go to Big Lots. Actually, if you front me the money and shipping, I think I might be able to get you one for pretty cheap. What specs are you looking for? April 19 thru 21 I get a 30% off employee discount on EVERYTHING.

well, I could get you a 720p 22" LED for... lessee... it's normally $129, it's my display, and it's got a semi-small crack in the bezel, so 20% off of that, and then another 30% off of that for my three-day 30% off discount. That brings it to... $77.78 after tax. But I'm sure there'll be different TV's then, too... ones that aren't busted displays.

Well, how long are we talking? I doubt anyone's going to buy it at its current price given the state it's in... It's not as bad as I make it sound, but people where I live are picky as shit. There's a inch and a half to two inch crack on the bottom right of the bezel; there's no noticable damage to the screen itself. It's a crack, but it's not cracked /open/ or exposing the insides at all.

Can't echo these votes enough. Seriously, badass. A round of pure epic.

I bought four of these babies as well as a second video card to drive it. I also got a quad monitor desk stand to hold them all. When I get it all set up I'll take a few pics of the setup.

Where did you hear that his brother ran him over? I've been hearing nothing but the brother that died that morning had been shot up and blown up by various explosives...

Ok, so I had a very interesting one here... I was waiting in line for something (possibly public transit, can't remember...) and I decided to break out my phone to play Metroid. The first one.

I remember playing in Brinstar, having this strange weapon that looked a lot like the furry/fuzzy blocks that make up part of the terrain, and it shot two at a time and was pretty powerful. As I was killing pretty much everything in my path, I realized I had a lot of upgrades, but I didn't have the Varia Suit! What the hell?

So, luckily, by that time, I wasn't that far from the room you have to shoot upwards to get to the Varia Suit room. But at this point, even though I still kinda recognized the room, it looked like I was playing some kind of remake or sequel to the game, and over to the left of the room was a hidden doorway (no door, just transition) to a darker room with hidden passageways. The whole area looked like overgrown vegetation, sorta like Green Brinstar from Super Metroid. As I walked in, I was grabbed by some kind of creature and had the life sucked out of me, and the effect on-screen looked like a bunch of hearts surrounding the area this is taking place in. Sorta racy, eh? :)

Anyway, I went back out to the previous room, and then went back in. Same thing. It was during this attempt that I noticed a morph ball path up above. In the previous room, there was a crumbled looking block that hinted that's where I should bomb and enter. So I did. After going back into the room for a third time, I was finally in the morph ball path. Looking ahead, I realize there's a problem... I can't cross the gap ahead without falling down! In any event, I continue forward, passing behind the foreground, and I run into the item I need to get past! It was the Boost Ball, from Metroid Prime. The item allowed me to continue past by charging it up (which took less than a second of holding the button down) and it would propel me straight forward, crossing the gap.

In the next couple rooms were some more opportunities to try out my new item. As I dicked around in there, I continued to the next room and found a boss! The entire boss was to be fought with the morph ball upgrades and bombs. The boss kinda reminded me of a mix between an Omega Metroid and Crocomire. It had dentrils which could reach into the morph ball tunnels. When the boss did so, I could boost into a block that would lock the tendril into the tunnel, then I could make my way down and get out of morph ball mode and blast the shit out of the boss. During the entire process, there was another item waiting for me to pick up in the bottom right corner of the room, just taunting me. The boss wouldn't let me pick it up until I defeated it.

As an added bonus, I noticed that one could enter the room from another direction, having access to the item right away, to have it while you fight the boss.

Alas, I would never find out, because it was time to put my phone away and continue with whatever I was doing.

Have you ever had a dream that turned into an idea you've wanted to seriously develop? If so, what was it?

First day of work at my new job, I drive a 26ft box truck (barely within the limits for not needing a CDL) between all the Macy's stores in the valley. Having fun, I like the driving part.

Morale.

Speaking from experience, this can have a massive effect on productivity. You need to feel good. Kironide, I know you to be an extremely intelligent person, and you should credit yourself a lot more for your efforts. Put your life goals in front of you. Your accomplishments. Hell, look at the salaries and incomes of the individuals who were in the line of education you're in. You deserve it for your hard work, and you shouldn't forget that that's why you are where you are, and you shouldn't forget that its going to take more hard work to get to your destination. But also treat yourself once in a while. Spending money and time on certain frivolous things is much more beneficial to you than the money and time itself. Because it makes you happy. Because you want to keep doing those things.

Also I realize my mood avatar is extremely ironical and isn't helping much but it's all I have...

The weather's been fucking top the past couple of weeks. Highs have been no more than 80 and no lower than mid 40's. I drive a big box truck now, 4000 miles a month, and I just am not looking forward to summer /at all/...

So I helped one of my former roommates upgrade his computer. I put in a new motherboard and case, which of course, was a pain in the ass because of the new motherboard. 6 hours later, everything running fine. Now, I'm playing a fucking game, relaxing my ass off.

I opened up good ol' Mass Effect 1 for a trilogy playthrough. Haven't been playing a horrible amount, due to life and stuff. But I started with a L38 Femshep. Mark Meer's cool and all, but femshep needs love too.

At my old job I had this movie playing on repeat. I've probably seen it (through conglomerate of various parts here and there) about 40 times. It's badass, for sure. I hope that there's a sequel and that it lives up to (if not exceeds) the first one.
