As Squiddy said. This is my own design, AB2.5 doesn't have to follow it or anything. I'm just providing it for the sake of providing ideas.


The thing about "letting a user edit posts but not move them out", well, in most cases, you will either want your moderators to have all the possible moderative permissions, or you won't care about that. It may have uses though.

But then there is also the part where you're supposed to be able to trust staff members to an extent. If they do stupid shit, you demote/ban them.


As for the guests vs users part. I find it silly to require registration for things like viewing forums or viewing extra pages. Unless registration has an entry barrier (like requiring a specific reg password), each guest is only a few clicks away from becoming a user. Forced registration annoys people and gets you a ton of worthless accounts. This is the main logic behind giving guests the same permissions as normal users.

Of course, there are admins who will want to do those things anyway. But I find them silly.

If you were to go back in time to when Acmlmboard 0.7 was first started, would you convince the Acmlm and Emuz of back then to use Python for Acmlmboard 1.0, point out exploits and bad coding practices, and even help with AB1?

But that would cause a time paradox. Acmlmboard as it wouldn't exist, which means that in turn I wouldn't have gone back in the past to point out the exploits and junk, and... Acmlmboard would exist.

Replacing $L is better for the sake of sanity. It'd make sense back in the days where CSS wasn't really a thing, but now, uh... natural HTML is better.

I remember recoding the forum editor to work with permissions (and starting from scratch as the old code was trash), so it shouldn't be inserting minpower shit. Weird.


Also, for a while Board2 had an ad at the bottom. With enough traffic, it can be a legit way to gain money, and as long as it's not intrusive I don't mind.

Me getting back home and meeting a dog with weird fur. The dog is friendly, I pet him on the way home. But later on I'm told that I'm allergic to that dog's fur or something, and it's dangerous. I'm given a pill that acts weird when put in the mouth but prevents the effects of the allergy.


Oh well there's more but it's all forgotten, as usual.
