Another service update

Changes made in this update:

• register.php: remove useless proxy check, optimize 'username already taken' check (and adapt it to UTF8), and remove silly hacks. Added extra double reg protection
• memberlist.php: fix sorting/sex.
• Fix themes that didn't theme < button> correctly. (also a fix for Touch of Purples and color inputs)
• Implement an improved version of that dynamic poll interface.

Without a game, the EXP is just a fancy number that just sits there.

Basically his css hack on his name to increase it's size (Let's just ignore any possible rule violations for now) is applied to the "Online" bar as well as his profile. Is there anything we can do to confine the css so it won't effect the more static elements of the board? I am curious is there is a quick fix for it.

The only way we can curtail some of these overly exotic css is to store it on the board's side and scrub it for anything out of bounds. Right now I don't think of it as a priority as we have higher priority things to do.

Well I guess that would work if we have to implement something. However that example would only apply to size difference. (We could add more css to it of course).
Plus that's a less perm fix, and really a hack style solution.

What sucks is the CSS is all loaded and applied at once globally. If only HTML would allow 'sandboxing' of CSS. (I don't know how that would be possible, but it would be nice lol )

We could filter out other issues later on too with a flexible filter system. One part php side, and one part JS (which can be disabled client side but I don't think that matters since it's mostly the cosmetic side).

This would come in handy mostly for the badges system, which is supposed to small cosmetic things that have no real permissions or power to them. Like for example a Badge could turn their username upside down, make it tiny, or make it bigger. etc (really bad examples based on the current issue)

As much as Nick is on I don't think it's an immediate issues at least.

Frankly posts should have more than the bare minimum of content. I've kept it pretty lax, but we have issued warning about post quality before.

Moving over to Session based data is something we will do for ABIII for sure. Session data I am not so familiar with code side, but it has advantages for sure. (Getting away from Cookies as well is good in general moving forward with AB2.5 as well)

Yup, all redirects should handled the same. (if not the same common function called). When I talked to DJ Bouche on the phone last week he said he did add some partial function for the redirects into the new render code that could be further enhanced/completed.

I think we should try to keep the old style redirects in because of the purist factor. However as you said if we have them in one place would could have more styles of them, including @Acmlm's old RPG one he used to have for EoFF where it would show a level up for the RPG elements. etc.

Basically when an OS deletes something all it does is erase the index for a file. The file remains on the drive and can be recovered. The file isn't actually deleted until something is written over top of it. Now what "WipeDrive" or any "secure erase" program does is write over it with 0's or random data to completely remove it. Wipedrive works on the whole drive so it erases everything there. Other programs (and some OSes) have an option to do a secure erase.

I need at least 8 hours of sleep or I am just dead the next day. Last week when I wasn't feeling well I slept more and felt like I didn't sleep any.

Today I slept to 11am, which is unusual since I rarely sleep past 9am.. (even when I am up until 2am).

Sleep patterns are just fickle would be my observation.

OS X: Sublime Text 2 - really nice syntax highlighting and good function referencing. Also supports session saving and function collapsing. (vim and joe on the command line as well)

Win: Notepad++ - pretty much the same thing as Sublime in the reason I use it.

X11: I really don't have one, I use a cli editor usually Possibly gedit if copy/paste is being fickle. I think if I used an OS with X11 natively again I'd give the gtk version of vim a try.

Unix CLI: Vim - I used to be against the VI based editors, but recently I started using VIM in a Linux admin class and the power of it's syntax coloring started me to give it more a shot. I am far from a "vi ninja" but it's replaced my main cli editor.

CLI Alt: joe - it's a very powerful dos-eque editor that has most of the features of vim. It's an easier learning cure. I still use often.
