♥10162 ✿4735 ★68 Posted by Danika Posted by Robbie Rage Nope on all counts... I mean it when I say I haven't seen many movies, guys... Posted by ゼンガー・ゾンボルト I haven't used an anti-virus in ages... back when I used windows I think I used Sophos and that seemed reasonably unobtrusive? |

♥10163 ✿4735 ★68 Posted by Danika The only Atari 8-bit game I have is Pitfall II, but that's a wicked good game so I assume that it has a good shot of being the best 5200 game too. Thinking about it, I've never even seen an Atari 5200 irl... |

♥10169 ✿4735 ★68 I used to run a server on my home computer, and then turned it off every night-- hey, it works for me! Problem must be on your end.
That was ages ago though-- now I just have a VPS. |

♥10173 ✿4735 ★68 Has anyone here checked out Mastodon*? It's pretty neat-- basically it's like twitter, but without any central server-- instead, anyone can host a Mastodon instance (we could even have a Kafuka instance if we wanted) and the instances "federate" with other instances, so you can follow anyone as long as they're connected to yours.
I really like the idea here; it seems like a combination of some of the best ideas of modern social networks with the separate community-feelings of 00's forums (like, er, this one)... Culturally too it seems pretty refreshing compared to Twitter. If you are on there, we should follow each other! I'm @nei@mastodon.social * - Yes, Mastodon built on top of the existing GNU Social infrastructure and other concepts, it's not new on its own, but it's added a lot of usability benefits and the like |

♥10174 ✿4735 ★68 Posted by Danika This is exactly what I see as the benefit; with Twitter, if Twitter Inc. decides to do things you dislike or makes the service unusable, you have no real recourse. But with Mastodon everything is open source and you can move to a different instance where things are as you like, but still follow all the people you were following before. |

♥10175 ✿4735 ★68 Posted by Danika The ][plus doesn't have up/down keys, so I think I'm going to get a gamepad for it... also I want to get either a color monitor or maybe just a small CRT TV (the composite signal it puts out is poor; designed for an analog world, digital devices often don't work with it); Woz put all that effort to get color, seems a shame to have it be monochrome |
