I played the Ruby/Sapphire one, and that one definitely allows no switching.

What do you mean by "You can't switch?" Of course you can switch your Pokemon, as long as you have one in reserve... Not that it helps when the opponent raises their evasion. You have to force them out with either Roar or Whirlwind, and good luck with that after even two DTs.

I'm pretty sure there's no switching in the Battle Tower, I played that not too long ago. If switching was possible, you could just switch in a Pokemon with Swift or something.

While it's true you can't switch between opponents on a KO, you can go into your party menu and switch at the cost of your turn. Just like in any other battle. >_>

How did you not know that?

With my newfound knowledge I'd need to assemble a new team. Before, thinking switching was impossible, I had to mangle together some sort of Swiss army knife as my first Pokemon. >_>
