Really, the "standard" set of keyboard symbols is only of use to programmers these days. And people with Teletypes.

Why is there no degree sign or pi symbol, for instance? Android keyboards have things like that, but PCs are still stuck in 1981.

I once had a final where one exercise was to write a program that had been one of the homeworks, and give it all from memory. By hand. No computer to check for errors or typos. Seriously, who writes code on paper?
