♥10102 ✿4717 ★57 I'm a big fan of Arabesque (the 70's-80's German disco trio); I've been considering getting a record player so I could play some of their records. |

Posted by Pokemonfan1000 I approve. Seriously though, I feel like musical tastes are getting more eclectic across the board. Some of my favorites for a long time are stuff like Dropkick Murphys, Flogging Molly, Halestorm, and the like. Then I'll be into southern rock for a week (Lynyrd Skynyrd, Maylene and the Sons of Disaster). The week after, I'll be in the mood to listen to Michael Jackson's discography. Then I'll be back to epic prog rock when I want to do some D&D writing again. Also, the Black Album is the best Metallica album. Discuss. |

Posted by Pokemonfan1000 Not a bad list there, only major disagreement I really have is probably Taylor Swift. Musically I like a wide range of stuff, while I mostly find myself listening to a wide variety of rock/metal I like a handful of everything really. Another thing in particular I love listening to is video game soundtracks, some of my all-time favorite soundtracks include Earthbound, LISA, Hotline Miami (both games), Super Mario RPG, Persona (pretty much any Persona game), Metal Slug (any game), Final Fantasy (most games), and way too many more. I guess I should probably put my list: Accept Alestorm Black Sabbath Danny Elfman Descendents Gorillaz Guns n' Roses Iron Maiden Less Than Jake Metallica (particularly their 80's and 90's stuff) Mick Gordon Perturbator Queen Rage Against the Machine Reel Big Fish System of a Down Tenacious D Other than that I probably like a few songs from a lot of bands/artists but not enough to put them on that list. Posted by Robbie Rage I disagree there. Personally I think their 80's albums were better, but one thing I have to give black album credit for is the production and sounds/tones of the instruments are really cool. Production is something I dislike sometimes in their earlier works, like with ...And Justice for All for example. I love that album and it's had some of the band's best work, but the production could have been better. There was actually an interview I watched with the producer/sound mixer for the album, and he talked about how Lars and James literally asked him to butcher the sound of the album. I think it was Lars in particular who made the bass so inaudible in the album, and the producer also admitted he did not like the drum sound of the album which Lars specifically demanded, which is a shame because that album actually had some of their best drumming to me. I still prefer their 80's albums mostly because for one thing the guitar tones sound much cooler than black album, and another thing the songs are way more interesting to me. ____________________ Giant Paratroopa Affected by 'Wooster Syndrome' ++++!! Posted by AtomicAstro I find it funny how every discussion of best Metallica albums I see always seems to come down to Black Album and ...And Justice For All. Then again, I did phrase that last line to deliberately provoke conversation. I personally like Black Album for many of the reasons you just described, although I know that definitely comes down to personal preference. Plus, a great deal of my favorite songs from them seem to come from either BA or Master of Puppets. Then again, I'm also one of those guys who enjoyed St. Anger, so make of that what you will. Also, good call on reminding me of Alestorm. Love those guys. |

If you've been around me long enough you'd know I love old school hip hop and R&B
Missy Elliott, Usher, Janet Jackson, MC Lyte, Lil Kim, Babyface, Nas, Wu-Tang, The Notorious B.I.G., and the list goes on Also some new school stuff like Beyoncé, Trey Songz, Drake, Kanye West, Rihanna, Keri Hilson, and the like... do venture into the world of 90s alternative-pop like Alanis Morissette and Sarah McLachlan as well, some grunge, some 90s alternative, and some LGBT-friendly artists like Indigo Girls, Regina Spektor, and Lana Del Rey "Miracles happen, when you believe..."

Glad my music choice is approved. For my two cents on the Black album, it's one of my favorite Metallica albums. Who here listens to Icehouse? |
