Now with photobucket going down the shitter and making you have to pay for hosting and destroying layouts, you might be wondering what options you have left. Sure, there is Tinypic and the 30 day imageshack free trial but those aren't good options. Here are some pros and cons.

Pros:

1. You just need to register, upload the image, grab the link and then paste it in.

2. You can usually change the size when grabbing the appropriate link (such as forum url or direct url)

Cons:

1. You are usually limited on space.

2. Images can't exceed a certain size.

3. Tinypic may choose to become a paid image hosting in the future.

4. Every time the imageshack trial expires, you'll have to download all the images, delete the account, and then re-sign back up, and then repeat the process which can be painstaking when you have a lot of images plus there are storage limits.

To overcome these restrictions, there is one other option, hosting the images yourself. You might be thinking "Great, now I have to pay a sh*tload of money just to host images." Well, you don't have to. Just go to epizy.com, sign up for your account, then go to cpanel.epizy.com, and then upload your images and then link to them using a url like this; http://yoursite.epizy.com/example.png and viola, free image hosting. So you don't get your account potentially deactivated for hosting just images (It's a possibility. Read their TOS before proceeding), make a simple html site. And that's how you get truly free image hosting.

they were a thing on older boards, and they were generally not liked

main reason is, why restrict your post to some arbitrary size?

I still have some of my scrolling layout backgrounds around here, on my server backups.

Ah, here's one!

I think the scrolling layout is unique, at least on this particular board right now. So long as it doesn't become a trend, it stands out.

I'm not sure if you guys got it or not but I made the post as if I was one of those advertising spammers that register at forums just to advertise their products.

And this is the beauty of Kafuka. Someone can do a quality shitpost, and it turns into quality discussion.

On the image hosting, I'm sure some other sites will pop up over time.
It's just a pain in the ass that trying to link from Google Drive is very unreliable.

Did you guys here that Pizza Hut is starting their own image hosting now? The fee? Just order a pizza every month, that's it. But I hear the space will be limited to just 1 byte though, so better figure out how to make your humongous images just 1 byte without ruining the quality of said image (well actually, they need to be less than one byte to hold multiple images so if you want to store 10 images, you'd need them to be .1 byte each)

either imgur or that thing, http://pi.gy

doesn't need accounts. only that if you lose your image link you won't get it again.

IMO there's plenty image hosts out there, even random acmlmboards uploaders will do. just because photobucket (I never liked it) kicked the bucket, doesn't mean you're anywhere near out of options.

I was literally about to suggest pi.gy because imgur for me is badly designed UI.
