I'd probably advice you to get an Intel Core i5 3570K instead and get a better graphics card and a more powerful PSU.

Like Cooler Master Silent Pro M 850W. That way, you don't have to worry about not being able to run SLI/Crossfire in case you'd want to.

Corsair Carbide 500R Looks like a nice case for it in case you want an alternative.

A Radeon 7870 or a GeForce GTX 670 might be a better choice for a GPU.

Edit: I don't know how much the other processor will differ with photoshopping compared to the i5 I suggested but I don't think it'll be that much.

My setup:

Case: Corsair Graphite 600T (White)
Motherboard: MSI Z68A-GD80
Processor: Intel Core i7 2600K 3,4GHz
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-C12P
RAM: 8gb (2x4gb sticks) Corsair CL9 1600MHz XMS3
GPU: Sparkle GeForce GTX 560Ti 1GB (SLI)

I have already ordered all the parts. In fact, I have half of my parts already.

When it comes down to it, I would prefer to have the more powerful CPU and less powerful video cards, since I will be more likely to replace the latter sooner rather than later. As for PSU, I am aware that I will need something better somewhere down the line. I will cross that bridge when I need to upgrade the video cards. In any case, the machine I have now is from 2004 and as I've said before, the CPU is so degraded it barely plays YouTube vids properly anymore. So I M happy with whatever results come out of this setup.

Of course. But more powerful CPUS/less powerful GPUs MAY cause bottlenecks when it comes to gaming. Not that it matter much with the more powerful videocards on the market but I wouldn't know about the one in your list.

It just made sense to go with a better CPU since sometimes you have to upgrade the mobo alongside it. And even the RAM sometimes. Video cards? Shit, you could wait a few months and the one that was $600 comes down to like $200, and you could just get two of them. PSU's aren't that hard to upgrade either. All I'm saying is if there's a bottleneck, it'll be easier to fix it going this route. On top of that, I only had a certain amount of money, so I did what seemed to be the most logical thing to do.

You should still be able to play most games on medium-high settings with that card. But consider the cards I suggested when you have more money. I have two 560Ti cards and I'm thinking of gettine one with more video memory sometime.

Alright, I got all my cabling and routed it where I want it. I put it all in 1" plastic tubing. All I have to do now is mount it to the ceiling of my bed frame so it looks a bit better. There are two tubes; one for the power cables for the monitors, and the other for video cables. Two HDMI cables, a DVI cable, and a serial cable for the touch monitor.

After I get home from work I'll have the rest of my supplies and I'll be able to start building my machine!

Glad to see you are getting things together now. Good luck building it and hopefully it will serve you well.

Got the machine built; had to get another means of storage (180GB Intel 520 SSD) because the 500GB HDD I have had a partition error. Windows install went haywire and had to hard boot it. So now, the drive is stuck in "expecting operation" mode and will not respond. Oh well.

Alright, done with my machine. Posting from it now.

Now I'm just working out all the kinks, such as fuzzy display. I haven't tried much. Two things I could try is to switch the cables between my two monitors. the 1080p screen with HDMI connected is the screen that looks like shit, while the 1280x1024 monitor looks nice and sharp with DVI. I'm sure I'll notice right away if it's the cable or if it's the monitor. If I don't notice a difference, then it's probably the 1080p monitor, in which case I'll try to see if there's an auto-adjust setting somewhere (I don't think this one has one) and go from there.

I'm also trying to figure out why the fuck I'm getting a 179kb transfer rate from my USB3.0 external HDD to my internal SSD. I'm transferring all my IRC logs and mIRC over. Shouldn't be that slow, it should be blazing fucking fast. What the hell, man?

Didn't you say your using your old laptop hdd in your computer?
What speed is it and what connector does it have ?
I personally recommend you look into a 500gb seagate or western digital SATA.
Might be iffy, but make sure the usb cable is not worn down or it will go in and out if you move it after a long while, that can cause alot problems when using external hdd transers.

Nah, that old thing? The HDD is an 80GB IDE. I'm not using that. I've got a 500GB WD drive, which I'm not using because it has a partition error in it. Not even attempting to format it works. Right now I'm using an Intel 520 series 180GB SSD. I've got two external drives both at 500GB, one of them USB3.0.

And yeah, fixed the video issue too.
