OK, I was just finishing a post on Kafuka a few minutes ago, when suddenly my computer went on the fritz. The mouse pointer wouldn't move, and then the screen suddenly went black. I had to reboot the computer to get the screen back.

Seriously, WTF, how does that happen?

Have any of you had computers run into mysterious problems/glitches?

Might've been your graphics driver that crashed?

Sometimes (hasn't happened for a while now) when I try to type something, on youtube for example, the keyboard doesn't work as it should. Or something. Only some letters appear and it's only a fraction of what I type.

Last view: 1461 days 		My computer used to always shut off and update automatically without me knowing or wanting to so I'd always have to wake up to a restarted computer. I know it is a good idea to shut off every once in awhile but I'd like to in my own time. :(

Back when I used 98, I'd get jillions of blue screens of death. For just about anything, at any time.

Some people love 98. I am not one of them.

...Not really.

I just...used mine. Went on the Internet, played games, used emulators.

Apparently there were a couple versions of Windows 98, though, some more stable than others ^_~

You probably had the gold/first edition ;) I went straight from 95 to 98SE and never had major problems with either... (I've only really tried Me in a VM, so I can't really say anything about it...)

Considering how it happened on unplugging my headset on an audio glitch, I would blame something in the drivers.

During the memory dump, I saw the IRQ setup as part of the error, so I would say it was something in my peripherals.

That may be Flash's fault. When an applet is focused, Flash will eat ALL the keypresses so much that they don't even make it to the OS.

This very computer does weird things when booting. Occasionally it'll just freeze and spin the CPU fan at max speed, or shut off and power on again... perhaps I should just update the BIOS...
