I'm large and big-boned for a woman (even most men are shorter than me) and I often have the problem of things not fitting me. Normal clothes are usually fine, but socks and shoes are a problem. Very few stores stock women's shoes in a size 12W (that's 46 for the Europeans), and "one size fits all" socks won't fit over my heel. Jewelry tends to be too small, especially rings and bracelets.

OTOH, I think it gives me that air of authority and intimidates would-be thieves and rapists
