(Just trying to get this board more active...)
Wow, could this be the end of a cultural icon? It would make for a great film idea though ("How The Union Killed The Twinkie"), even though it's very likely (almost a chance of 1) that their most popular brands will live on ![]() Still, I never thought this day would come ![]() "Miracles happen, when you believe..."

What would be funny is if one of the said workers wanted to get another job and the boss kicked them out because he really wanted a Twinkie. "GET OUT OF HERE TWINKIE MURDERER!"
But I think someone may try to buy it out and produce it again. At least for the sake of having them again. The funny thing is I had some for "good old time sake" just a few weeks ago. Before then I haven't had one in years. |

They don't even sell anything hostess around where I live. They sell snacks & bread from another country that's cheaper here in Corona NY. My guess is that companies are going for the cheaper brand because of the bad economy here in the USA.
But that's just me. ![]() ____________________ Beacons.AI My Discord Server |

Blaming the death of Hostess on the union is like blaming the death of GM or Chrysler pre-bailout on the UAW / CAW.
Since 2002, they've had 6 CEOs - none turned the company around. In 2004 they declared bankruptcy, and the union then agreed to huge concessions. The company saved $110 million from this but didn't put a dime back into their business. They haven't turned a profit in ages. Since 2004 they've closed 21 factories and killed thousands of jobs. No concession by the union would have had the company remain alive another 5 years. And even 5 would have been unlikely. An acquisition of its top brands by a real company that knows how to turn a profit (ex: Kraft) would be their only saving grace, and has been the case since they were bought by a private equity firm. Private equity firms rarely if ever actually turn companies around (think Bain Capital). |

We used to have a Wonder bread factory in Downtown Akron. That made the University smelled like warm bread. That factory closed down last year and the University ended up buying it. I guess the reason was clear.. the company was losing a lot of money.
Well it does look like a few companies are going to buy the assets. One of which is Bimbo bread co out of Mexico. I don't remember the other companies but it l know the Twinkies will not be dead forever. The Dynamic Profile Administrator™"Never Knows Best" Note: if you can see this my layout broke.
