Would you even consider killing them as a vigilante would if you knew with 100% certainty or mostly knew they were the murders and knew they would never be caught?

What are your opinions of this matter? I thought this could be interesting discussion while I seen this one episode of a particular show. The episode had a mother kill her daughter's murderer when this murderer killed off the last person who could have convicted the murderer. Leaving the murderer free to find more victims until she took matters into her own hands. She called the police that she had done so because after searching for so long as an investigator, she was finally through.

Do you think it is ever morally right to do so or would you just do nothing?
Let's get some more serious activity going on.

I think it's justified in this case. I'd probably do it. But as a vigilante? No. In case you're talking about wearing some sort of mask. I have more dignity than to hide behind a mask. But it'd be more cruel to kill someone close to the murderer. Maybe that'd be a better way to punish him/her. If the killer in question cares for that person, that is.

That, or torture him/her to hell and back, wait until he/se recorvers completely, rinse and repeat. And keep that going for a good while. THEN kill him/her off. But not a quick death. My patience can be very short sometimes but if something like this happened to me and I had the killer in my grasp, I'd want to savour the moment.

Edit: Do I sound scary yet? :P

I won't so much kill them, but I would be considering removing their hands to make it so they wouldn't have the means to do so again.

Note that Scrydan never mentioned how they were killed.

"They" as in the person you loved?

Yeah, cutting the person responsible/murderer's hand off won't be that much justice when they paid someone to do it or if they killed off who they paid/bribed. :P

I consider myself a pacifist, and I hate the idea of even harming another Human. No matter how sick, how twisted they are, or how they have hurt me. But I will be damned if I wouldn't be happy if they were locked away through legal means.

I'm a Lawful Good kinda guy. I won't go out and kill them myself, but I would do everything possible to get them under the scope of the law. Some people may say that path is even worse, because instead of killing them quickly I'm condemning them to rotting in jail. Eh. By that point I doubt I'd care much.

I suppose I'd lean towards chaotic good, which is usually the alignment I choose in DnD aswell.

For my case, I think I would attempt to find anything that would be a crime and then try to somehow connect it should they be a serial killer or somethings.
Although it depends really. For all I know, my views now could very well change when it comes time to decide what to do.

Depends on the jail quality of different countries here. There's a lot of references to the prisons here being "hotels" because they provide too much through "human rights".

Honestly, if a human truly doesn't care for others' lives and killed them for whatever reason, I believe they should lose that right. At least to a degree.

Indeed. However, I still think criminals should lose their human rights. There's enough rights in there to completely loophole the law for many things.
