I decided to start a mod project for one of my NES's that I hope turns out to be badass. This is just my project thread.
72pin connector harvested from a Game Genie board (RIP) with the original 180 degree NES connector above. the Audio/Video/Power module removed. Did this to give me more flexibility in placing it and possibly allowing for a smaller casing. Extension port removed. Keep in mind that I'm still going to do the 47k resistor mod on it. NES with the Game Genie 72pin connector attached. This just makes my NES a toploader now. The board is upside down in this pic, which is what my design calls for, since if you made the connector face the right way up, the cartridges would have to be inserted with the label facing the rear of the NES. This design allows me to put the cartridge with the label facing the front, just like the normal toploader. This mod had me make quite a mess on my desk with all the desoldering I had to do. But it was fun. So far I think it's turning out well. |

♥3092 ✿4717 ★57 That's pretty cool; my roommate keeps wanting me to mod my Famicom but I'm afraid of damaging it...
What are you planning on using for a case? I assume with the toploader you're not going to be fitting it into the original. |

I think I'm going to use legos. I have a crapton of them, and enough of one or two colors to make it look good. Modular too, in case i decide to change it up a bit! |
