My ISP does provide a stable connection if anything, but the "smart" modem/router thing you get from them is anything but smart. Its software/OS/whatever is usually modified (limited) by them in some way or another so the downloadable manual from the manufacturer isn't accurate.

Making a "bridge" to a router is a must with that thing.

I'm feeling a very noticeable difference between the afternoon and evening in terms of connection quality.

In the evening, it feels almost as if the ISP is over-crowded and data packets are getting lost among the crowds. In the afternoon, it's a lot quieter and much faster too.

I've noticed my internet is a little faster during the day than in the evening, but it's nothing as bad as yours is... it's a cable connection though, and those are known to have more sharing issues than DSL ones from what I understand.

When I first signed up for Comcast, they signed me up for internet twice, even sending me a self-install kit I wasn't eligible for... and then wanted me to go over to their local office (not very convenient) to return it, which was annoying. (I eventually got them to send me a prepaid return box)

At least I haven't really had connection issues with them... fingers crossed.

You really are lucky. I have had TONS of issues with Comcast. But thanks to the possible threat of Google Fiber in the area, they upgraded us for free and it helped not suck as bad but yeah.

I am usually dropping around every week or every other week. The amount of time dropped varies. :P]

Edit: Whoops! Forgot to add the name of the ISP, although it might have been obvious. lol

Depends on how many people use it. Here, it tends to be very few so you can use the speed to the fullest.

The box in the basement hadn't even been replaced since old times. It still says it's a property of the German government and manipulating it is a federal crime. <_<

I hate the fact my internet has to be shared by like 3 others. Not to mention all the things I tend to do alone. :P
God only knows what they do to make the bandwidth just cry out for mercy.

I live alone, so my connectoin isn't shared.

Oddly, though, when Anya was here, she said my connection was good and solid. But on my machine (both old and new computers, so it's not a computer issue) it's a complete lemon.
