Taryn's mom emailed me 3 days ago with the following information:

I am Taryn's mother and I got your email from Anya (Jen). She says that you were the one who called the police to do a wellness check on Taryn. I just needed to let you know how very much we appreciate your concern and care for Taryn. As you may know, my husband and I were out of the country when we received word of Taryn's death. We took the first flight home to Michigan and then drove for 4 days to Seattle.
We had the sad job of going through her apartment today. Unfortunately due to fact that she may have been there for a few days, many things were disposed of by the apartment management. We were only able to recover some personal items. other items we donated to Goodwill. We asked that her Lego go to a homeless shelter with kids. We went to the animal shelter and informed them that we could not care for her cats and asked that they make them available for adoption, we also made a donation in her name to help other rescued pets.
I know that Taryn valued her friends and friendships. I also know that she has gone though some tough times. We always loved her and supported her and it is comforting to know that she had friends like you who looked out for her.
Again, thank you for being there and for caring.


It's nice to see that her cats are okay, and will find a nice caring home...

It just bugs me that I haven't seen an obituary page for her yet. Both my grandmothers who recently passed had one and my dad doesn't know how to set those things up. Maybe they're waiting on finalizing a few things.

Also, as far as I know, an autopsy hasn't been done yet but I think it is planned.

Oddly enough I had a dream in which we were talking about old Acmlmboard 2.6 related things (she in the past actually helped test some things) and some project that gave away to a new age of posting of the likes I have never seen. Yet unlike so many good dreams, they seem to always end when it gets good.

I never will forget the smiley she often loved using "~_^" and got me into doing the flip of it as a reply to her. And she loved cats.
Cats are amazing and soon I'll be able to finally get my own after awhile ever since I moved to a new apartment. She always wanted me to get one as soon as I was able to.

Just wanted to tell you folks that we now know the cause of her death. Apparently, she died a natural death and that it's probably dehydration due to gastroenteritis...

I hope that it helps you come to terms with it...

I had feared it was a reaction between cold medicine(s) and prescription medication or an overdose (paracetamol or similar comes to mind), but at least we know it was nothing of the sort :(
