For fun, I decided to take a random look at a more modern board software, especially since a certain paid one seems to be cropping up everywhere.
Gave me a few ideas for some implementations, but like pretty much all of them ever - it hold some flexibility but it feels super bloated regardless of the ability to cherry pick what you want out of it. Not to mention getting lost in an admin panel is never a good sign.  (I swear, several options reappeared elsewhere!)
Though one random feature sort of caught my eye which was the ability to grant another user "thread authorship" despite the other guy still being its creator. And also banning a user per thread basis instead of forum. I find it funny.
If someone is being bad enough to get banned from a thread, my logic tells me they probably should be banned from the forum or site at least. ha But perhaps thread banning has its use. The warning system is cool though. Edit: And no, I won't ever buy or spend my money on such a software. Especially when such options such as this software or my own exist. |

Nope if they destroy or ruin alot of threads just give em a 10 day ip ban special.
If they do it again hand them another 30 days. Just what your saying about thread control would make the board fall to hell and back again. I wouldn't even try it if I could or would mod again. :/ |

I find any 'warning' or disciplinary tracking system to be kinda dumb. Simply because all users are different. You never deal with two users in the same way.

They don't need a Drivers License, so they technically never need to learn the Traffic Rules, to ride a Bicycle.
It's especially a problem at Train Stations here. Here in Japan, people use 2 Bicycles on a daily basis: One from Home to the Station, and one from Station to Work (and vice versa, of course). Don't forget, that many Streets here are overpopulated as well, add Bicyclers to it, and then you add any Cars, Trams, Buses, etc. to the picture, and you can imagine how messy everything becomes... |
