Changes made in this update:

• Added support for displaying # of threads unread on the forum page.
• Added a forum/thread indicator system. Currently it uses the classic 8-bit font.
• Added the ABI theme from April fools. Currently it lacks the images for links, but we're working on that.
• Total cols. added to active users
• Other minor tweaks for flooding and empty threads

Addendum update:

• Added the link images (New Reply, New Thread) to the themes "Acmlm's ROM hack domain" and "Kafuka". I will add it to some of the other classic themes later on.
• fixed the display of all the icons for hot closed and new closed. (Let me know if it still bugs out)
• Added css info to allow a theme to override some of the board links with images. (New Thread/Reply, Edit Thread, New Poll, +1, -1)

This April fools was done at the last minute.

The second one is harder. If you have a project, consider using Kafuka for the forum that backs it. You can gain both have an instant community for your project, but you can help grow it too. Also AB2.5/Kafuka is built around the model of being able to provide both public and private forums for projects hosted. Now a lot of the time using your own forums is best so I don't know how many people will want this service, but it's something that can be offered. However one of the caveats really is the project has to be big enough to not just end up being another empty forum the board. (IE: start a thread first and contact me about it. We can talk if you are interested.)

That's what I tried to do back then with Nikoboard. When I started SM64DS hacking, I posted there, and linked to there from my youtube videos. I have then continued doing so with my board. But it failed miserably. I already posted a thread about SM64DSe here, but uh... SM64DSe is practically getting no interest. I made it open source in the hope interest coders would help me, which would have made me regain motivation, but nope. The few people who actually care about SM64DSe just want releases and more releases.

I would do it with another project, but I have no idea what to do. As it already has been said, ROM hacking is a dying art. Trying to hack a new game will just generate interest for a few weeks and then it'll be like SM64DS hacking.

Looking into the present and future, it is hard to find stuff to make this place more active. All I see in these times is social networking and spoilt brats playing on their PS3.

Then, I could look at what I'm interested in. Electronics, but I lack tools to make really cool stuff. Programming, but I have no idea what to code that would really be worth it. And when I look at all those failed projects of mine, I kinda lose motivation...

Well I think the key is to focus on the older ROM Hacking stuff I think. The ROM hackers who are the most hardcore are the ones that exist from the 2000 era when it first got popular. DJ Bouche and I will get back to the Super Mario 3 Allstars super engine at some point (this is what happens when you grow up.. you work, takes up most of your time etc.) If you want to look over how the engine works and everything we could use the help as it's not a light project by any means.

We'll see if the board software gets us any traffic too. Just depends on who wants to use it. Even though I am working hard to make the inital release as easy to install as possible, it's not going to be as easy as other boards. (But we can fix that afterwards.)

Yeah loss of motivation can suck. It's hard to work thought, especially if it's just you.

The font is just a place holder. It will be 'modernized'

As for the issue with the numbers, yup I only noticed that once we put it on live. I'll work on it some more. This feature is experimental.

Both the fact it's using the retro font and the current issues where cut off from my release notes by the fact I was tired. Sorry about that.

If you could, Emuz, please don't use the "HOT" tags... Those are actually what throw me off the most. Use a symbol, like the ! we had before, that way I don't click a popular thread with no new posts because I click too fast.

Don't worry it will be something other than HOT. Epele is working on the replacement font as well so it will be smaller. Also the Colors I haven't adjusted as they are muted and don't contrast from each other. I used the HOT only for the April fools thing but it turns out I forgot to add the ! variant in the code. When everything is set and done, on the default 'theme' for forum "flags" should be symbols for all but "NEW" (red for hot, yellow for new) and EDT (red for hot, green for edt) [This isn't implemented and I don't expect it to be for a long time, but I am planning ahead function wise. This basically is reserved if a feature is implemented that allows you to track edits like New threads. If a thread gets edited it will flag as EDT so you know to look at it, as it's been changed.]

I used to be a big player of RTS games, so even though I am not a brony I think this is a neat project. . Do you think you'll consider an online multi-player mode when the game is further along?

Yeah my IRC doesn't make any noise, but it did make #kafuka always highlighted and I get a pop up in the corner of the screen when I get mentioned (5 seconds and it fades out).

What IRC clients does everyone use? I use Limechat, and weechat mostly

I use the Chatzilla Firefox addon. I tried to download an IRC client to my phone, but none of them can connect to NoLimit, because my mobile host name can't resolve.

I would look into it, but I can't be bothered to mess with it.

I have only a few IRL friends, however I have quite a few IRL acquaintances. Most are from work. Mostly they are just occasional lunches, or a small as I can count on a favor from them, and vice-versa. Those I call friends I rarely see. Maybe once a month. Lately I've been busy with work, and I'm also taking classes so that eats up so much time heh.

I tend to be very shy most of the time, but I can also be very bold, personable, and charming too. Mostly those are in business relationships though. If it's someone I 'like' I am the worlds biggest bungling + shy person in the world. LOL

When I had my college at work click it, all he got was a free antivirus software. Good thing too as it turns out he was infected with thousands of viruses. (However I seems to need to upgraded to a full version before it can clean it.)

I am not a loner per say. I do like it a lot of the time, but I also enjoy having company etc. Truth is that's the one thing that I miss not being in a relationship ATM is the companionship aspects. I am usually more ambitious/adventurous when I am with at least one other person.

NotRO is still in dry dock, but it's being discussed again. I've been working on AB2 a lot and that takes up the small amount of free time I have. Still would like to get that SMB3AS project off the ground, but I need to wait for someone to continue..

The thing that is cool about some emulation in platforms like Wii for example, it allows for some trickery to get to actual 1920x1080 resolution out say SSBB. I've not experianced this in person but I've seen some screenshots and it looks nice.

That's the part of emulation that's neat; hardware is in software so you can change mod it easily.

This is actually a reason I don't care about some emulation (and modding in general, sometimes). Yes, the mods can be cool but things that making it larger or making it prettier looking, I don't really care too much about that. Might be because my TV is 20 years old and couldn't handle that anyway (Skyrim looks like shit SO MUCH on that TV I gotta run it through my capture card and play it on my computer's monitor). I'm not gonna flip my shit over a minor detail change that I wouldn't notice without a side-by-side comparison. To be fair I dunno how big of a change some of these things could be, but even the big changes you do see... I don't feel I need to mod my entire Wii to make Captain Falcon look like Pikachu.

True, and well I like to mess with testing the limited of emulation. That's what got me started. That and the idea of running everything on a single very powerful machine was always something I wanted even when I was a kid. I also do have a desire for authentic preservation too. I kept the hardware for most of the systems, but in reality I don't have the room or time to play them :/ (I also collect vinyl records. kinda the same thing. I do play them on occasion)

I'm currently working on a Comp Sci major where I am, hopefully going into game design. I feel like I really need to learn better data handling before I can do anything I haven't done before though. Especially maps. I understand how a tile based one would be a matrix of tiles, but I don't understand how I'd save it or keep it in the program or anything.

I used to be a Comp Sci major when I first started. I found it had too much math for me. I guess the easiest solution is a bitmap map format... but I know there are more creative methods
