I linked the races because MM9 is an hour and a half and Metal Slug is 45 minutes.

As for my let's plays, I'm still undecided on how to get back into the scene. Part of me really wants to redo my old projects with my improved know-how on video production because my old LPs didn't do the games any justice at all. Another part of me wants to start with an all new series.

My friends aren't any help on making a decision... They all say "Do whichever you feel is best." The problem is that I don't fucking know which is the better option!


Feel like sharing some know-how of video-production? I have been thinking of doing a LP of Megaman 3 and I'm wondering if I should get a game capture device or just do it on an emulator.

I noticed that Top Man seemed to be faster when I played it on the computer (US rom as opposed to the EU version on my Wii).

Also, my 360 gamepad seems to have some...input lag or something sometimes. It's as if it doesn't always react when I press the button. I only noticed that when moving in dungeons in Final Fantasy 3 (NES), though.

And I have a problem with two vids of the final battle in FFVI advance that I combined because the old time limit of youtube is irrelevant now. The problem in question is black-outs in the video in several occasions. Several seconds long each time. The sound still plays, though. That did not happen with the original files (which were 500+ mb each) and not with the more compressed ones either.

When I had opened them in Vegas Pro 8.0, the program seemed to notice the blackouts even before I created the single file. But when playing the separate files in BSPlayer there are no blackouts at all. It'd be easier just to show you the files but I'm unsure how to share them with you.

Sorry for the lengthy post.

Well...correction of audio-sync issues and possible video-errors that can occur. Minimizing performance problems while playing the game. Good settings to use, etc.

If it's easily emulated (NES, SNES, GB, Genesis, etc) use an emulator and screen recorder. I use Camtasia to record my screen since it grabs system audio and mic activity at the same time, which makes editing a breeze since I don't have to sync audio.

For a modern console, use a capture card. You said you have a Dazzle, right? You can make it work if you use the right software. If you use VirtualDub, you can tweak things more accurately than, say Pinnacle Studio or Sony Vegas. Using composite cables causes interlacing, though, but VDub has a deinterlacing filter that works fairly well.


Yeah, I have a Dazze DVC100. And I don't like it. I thought it was the dazzle that caused the black bars at the top and bottom of my youtube vid but I learned that it was the game compensating because the screen was zoomed in or something like that.

It's not just Top Man that was running fast in that case. The whole game was. The US/Japan and Europe/Australia use different video standards. The US uses NTSC, which runs at 30fps; as opposed to Europe's PAL, which runs at 25fps. It may not seem like much, but there is a noticeable difference.


Yeah, I almost got done in by Top Man of all the bosses. When I got hit by his...flying toys the second time in a row, I was like "Wtf! Again!?".

I can't say I've ever had that problem... All three of my controllers (Logitech, PS3 sixaxis, and a third party PS3 controller) all seem to work just fine.

Does the video do this locally, or is it specifically Youtube's copy? It's kind of hard to troubleshoot without knowing. If it's local (the original file that was uploaded) something happened during the rendering process that needs to be fixed. If it's on Youtube's end, then something probably happened during the upload. I've noticed some of the test videos I've put up had some weird artefacting that was caused by corruption during the upload. I've since switched to using the secure uploader (looks the same, but uses https secure protocol) and the videos go up looking the way they do locally.


It's local. Haven't uploaded it/them yet. But it only happened in Vegas and after I had created the new file.

Terrific. I have to go and learn a new program now? I use Camtasia Studio 7 to capture the screen. I upgraded to that since sound stopped working in version 6. Then I learned that I had to have "Stereo Mix" enabled in recording devices for the sound to work again.

It's strange, though. The original, larga files were around 800mb and 500mb. Vegas could compress them to 103 respective 84 mb without much quality loss. Though, the saturation of the colors was a little decreased. Those vids don't black out. At least not when they're separate.

Are you combining the videos with their raw versions or the compressed edits? Vegas seems to have issues when you import .mp4 files.


The compressed ones but it's AVI files. I used Xvid Mpeg-4 compression, though. And Matroska head if that matters. The thing is that I tried to cut the very beginning of the second part so that it flows as if they weren't separate when the 3rd tier begins. Usually, you can see the pointer in the beginning of my vids.

Already know about Vegas's issues with mp4 files.

EDIT: Why does rendering a file using the Lagiarith codec in Vegas give me sound only?
