I've had a laptop that melted it's own motherboard. A processor that overheated due to a fan failure.. Snapped the spacebar on a keyboard.
Nothing too big really. I prefer my desktop tower over any laptop. The world could always use more heroes! |

I had two hardware failures, both being PSU's whoose fan stops working.
Which usually means the computer boots fine and all, but shuts down as soon it gets warm. A couple minutes of gaming is usually enough. :/ You can replace the fan but I'm not ballsy enough to do that (those capacitors are dangerous after all). ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org, YouTube

Your story is amazing Marzen, I just hope Kawa's new Dell does not suffer the same fate...
Why do peripheral power adapters all look the same? I once accidentally plugged my scanner's 12-volt power supply into my USB hub. All devices connected to it died, my rumblepacked gamepad sounded like an earthquake for a second and then died as well. ____________________ I don't give a flying feather |

Wow that's crazy Marzen. Last prepackaged PC I got was an Acer and the pins popped off my CPU when the fan died on it and melted the heatsink to the actual processor via the crap-nonname-gel they put inbetween that they called thermal paste. It would turn on still after I bent all the remaining pins back but lock up randomly and send signals off into alien worlds, which resulted in swift kicking to the side of the beast.
Last time I buy a brand computer. |

I had a hard drive malfunction resulting in a phantom partition somewhere. I had a shit ton of stuff on there that I wanted to get, but I couldn't recover anything off of it much less find any tools to do so at the time. I was so pissed. When I finally thought I was getting somewhere, the drive finally went completely dead and I lost everything. |

It's funny cos, even with all the Dell hate, this laptop can run Skyrim at reasonable settings (and it suggested the best) and hasn't failed me yet. And yes, it's a Dell. |

I think my biggest problem was with some old computer motherboard I was trying to revive. All I could install was Win98, when trying to install anything else the install program would just freeze. I remember trying lots of stuff, spending days on it, all to no avail. And in the end it turned out that the BIOS was responsible for that. The motherboard was a Gigabyte motherboard with some crap Nec BIOS that was apparently buggy. Forcefully installing the latest Gigabyte BIOS fixed the issue. ____________________ Kuribo64 - melonDS want some revolution in your coffee? |

For $900 you could have gotten a really good barebone kit online and put it together yourself and never had an issue. |

Posted by Trelior Golden words. The only issues I've ever had are when I've bollocked up installing something.. Which means a cable isn't fully connected most of the time. Although, I did ruin a stick of RAM unintentionally. The world could always use more heroes! |
