No 2x11 + 2x12 canon historic battles of the 3 types? :(

Actually for a lot of Nintendo Wii games it's just enough to run the game in a higher resolution make the graphics more impressive and beautiful.
Still a lack of shaders. Although this is probably what Nintendo wants, more polygons, to give that cartoony feel. A few shader effects would be nice though, to give more feeling of depth, give surfaces a shinier polish, and softer shadows.

Oh yes the N64 is very blurred. I actually like it like that, but others may disagree. Actually, in an emulator if you set the combiner to nearest neighbor you can see how pixelated the N64 really is if it weren't for all the blurring. It's a pretty amazing experience.
The N64 should never have been allowed to do 3D at all! Its graphics are downright horrible! Mostly due to lack of textures and polygons.
Which I must add to, later games did quite well in optimizing the microcode (Conker's Bad Fur Day shows what an N64 can really do).

All I got out of @Kiyoshi's post was "BAWWWWW THE GRAPHICS AREN'T PERFECT AND STATE-OF-THE-ART SO I WON'T PLAY IT ;_;".
You once again prove that you don't know shit about me, you can't read, or you have a short memory, or any combination of the above.

The Wii has inferior graphics, the innovative controllers and balance board were selling the machine, introducing older people to console gaming as well.

There was a time when indeed Nintendo games were fun, but just look at some titles now:
• Mario Kart 7
• Mario Party 9

The times Nintendo could come up with something original are long gone.

As we see with the 3DS, other developers are losing interest.

I expect Nintendo to end like Sega in 5 years from now, making no new consoles, just games (still lotsa Mario fans out there).

Proving my point. Graphics do not make good games. Stupid people make graphics make good games.
You would be a great creationist, mining quotes out of context like that. As you only seem to be able to memorize a few words, I will emphasize the important ones for you.

But seriously, I still love emulating the Commodore 64, some games are really original, or just plain weird, or have that simple retro feel.
For Nintendo, the Super Nintendo was their best console, there was a lot of creativity in the games back then. I still love playing many games on bsnes.

I actually own a Wii, just for a few innovative games like Wii Fit, WarioWare and SMB Step & Roll. I never liked the Mario games on this console (Galaxy for the camera and voices, NSMB for the terrible blend of different drawing styles and the uninspired levels).

I have no interest in an XBox or PS3, the games for these consoles are only about graphics and violence.

They broke Win16 compatibility in 64 bit versions of Windows only due to that they couldn't be bothered to port it to those versions.
False, due to the way AMD64/EM64T works. Pointers are very different, and the processors can't switch to 16-bit in a 64-bit environment, but low-level emulation (bochs, dosbox, virtualbox) is very possible, while high-level like ntvdm or vdmsound is not.
Remember 32-bit apps can run natively in a 64-bit environment. Anything that runs in kernel mode, like a driver, needs to be 64-bit.
Mac OS X goes around this limitation by using both a 32-bit and 64-bit kernel at the same time.

Posted by Ailure
And before you ask, yes it's still possible to run 16 bit programs in 64 bit mode (this seems to be a common misconception about Win16). This is what Wine does on 64 bit Linux. :P
What was the "e" in Wine for?
Windows 7 Professional and higher have Windows XP Mode for this, which integrates very nicely in your start menu. VirtualBox is often the better option though, especially in seamless mode.
Also, hardware virtualization (AMD-V/VT-x) even makes it possible to run a 64-bit Linux on a 32-bit Windows XP!

What the hell, Firefox 3. People still update you, you should support this by now.
Firefox 3.6 can do border-radius, but still needs the -moz prefix. Firefox 4 does not.
I believe the same counted for box-shadow.

It could be worse... You could use this for your background and really piss people off.
No, animated backgrounds tend to piss people off.
Use something non-animated, like this.

Here, I'll be nice and bump this so it'll remind Liliana that she's getting close. After all, she's only four posts away.

Although, she's perfectly within her rights to create her own thread. She'd receive a much warmer congratulations. After all, this thread's rather... stale? :x

Why has this thread lived this long.
I was planning to rename it to "This thread reserved for Nicole's 1000th post" soon :P

Everyone except me, of course.

On a scale of one to awesome, how likely is a subtly animated background image to spice up your browsing habits?
Your background is acceptable, just like Liliana's. At least your patterns are easy on the eye.
Fixed backgrounds seem to animate too upon scrolling, so they are just as annoying to me.

ntvdm does have low-level emulation available, else they could have never gotten it to work on non-Intel architectures like the MIPS, which has no compatibility whatsoever with Win16. They were just too lazy to fix it up and port it to Win64, that is all.

WINE: WINE Is Not an Emulator
Also look at this.

'"Wine is not just an emulator" is more accurate.'
Sounds kinda like the way OS/2 did Win3.1, using an API subsystem.
There is another way, a translation layer like Win32s, but this is very slow.
In these modern times, PC emulators can use the hardware virtualization of processors as well, allowing for hypervisors and multiple OSes at the same time.

Looking at the most relevant part of the Wikipedia article, only protected mode 16-bit code can run in Long mode, so that covers Win3.1 apps for the CPU limitation.
64-bit Windows has wrapper code for some old 16-bit installers though, but even if they could somehow get Win3.1 apps working normally (and they probably can't because of the memory mapping involved), Windows XP mode is by far the better option, since it can run DOS apps as well.

Real mode DOS apps can run perfectly in DOSBox. The best example of a game relying heavily on Real Mode is Lemmings in High Performance PC mode, as this had lots of glitches on both Win3.1 and OS/2 3.0, and DOSBox runs it quite well.

I don't know of any DOS games that use V86 mode (this would be quite silly as it was made for task switching and semi-parallel multi-tasking in the first place). There are DOS games that use protected mode, but they all use reflectors (DOS4GW, PMODE, CWSDPMI) that can rapidly switch between Real Mode and Protected Mode when DOS services are needed.

Which I must add to, later games did quite well in optimizing the microcode (Conker's Bad Fur Day shows what an N64 can really do).

Yes, the N64 has a great potential, but few programmers actually utilized its power due to the numerous limitations (mostly due to the awfully low memory) which made it hard to make good use of the extra features. The N64 did support high-resolution (640x480) mode which looks pretty great, but I don't know very many games which actually make use of it. Most just settle with 320x240 mode which isn't really much.
It was more like N32, the bus was 32-bit, and usage of the few 64-bit instructions left was RARE (pun intended).

640x480, it really did not have the power or video memory to do this. Of course there were some nice tries, but back in the days I was always thinking how the machine would have done 2D graphics.
The N64 had a more powerful GPU than the PS1 on some points, however, Nintendo really kept pushing all developers to jump on the 3D bandwagon. The N64 could probably have done some kick-ass 2D graphics, but sadly we never got to see it :(

No that was because of an earlier argument.

I'm sorry, Kiyo, but I think you fail at reading comprehension this morning.

I explicitly linked to that image, outright saying it was to piss people off.
I read that, I was being sarcastic, outright repeating your statement for extra humour value. We don't need to have the same humour of course.

Posted by GreyMaria
Personally, I don't think he's ever not failed at reading comprehension.

If the amount of work it takes Kawa to explain something to him is any indicator.
That's because, instead of being an I-always-know-better dumbass like you, I take the time to understand precisely what he is saying, and I ask very specific questions. It can drive @Kawa nuts at times how much I try to keep verifying, while he wants to rapidly flood me with information. Mostly @Kawa and I say correct things about the same subject, but have different aspects of it in mind, so we need to ask additional questions to 'synchronize' our trains of thought. Often the philosopher in me comes up, or one of us suddenly gets some weird fridge/troll logic idea. It's actually quite interesting, these intelligent minds colliding. You should have seen us in the same house like a bunch of Stooges :P
It's a lot of bullshitting, but we have a laugh afterwards.

The friendship between me and @Kawa is complicated, but a better one than you will ever have, unless you make a major change in your attitude.

Also, wasn't it you who complained about @Kawa's posting quality earlier?

Which part of "a possible list that could be bigger" did you not understand?
Sure, you could make the list bigger, but you also have to change some dependencies at some point, if you want to do those historical missions.

As of now, you need the Earth pony source, to be able to build sources for other types.
